It's impossible to know who is a threat, so the only safe thing to do is treat everyone as a potential sabboteur. Also, in the US, any hint of favoritism at such a time might be perceived as lawsuit-bait. (I know someone is preparing to respond with "it doesn't matter, they'd never win." It *does* matter. Lawsuits aren't free, even to the winner.)
