There used to be a convention for this. IIRC (I haven't seen it since the 80's), it was a lowercase "b" with a diagonal slash through it. It's probably way too deprecated to be used now.

Don't know what it's called officially, but we use a symbol found in the
Wingdings 3 font (61526), it looks like a flattened U. One symbol for each
space.
