Sorry - I should have mentioned in my original post that I'm in Vancouver, Canada.

I should also mention again that this little upsurge has NOT been accompanied by more postings to the usual local job boards. They are still averaging only one position a week or so.


But, come to think of it, the end of November has always been a good time for hiring here. I've started three or four major positions around this time. Possibly, departments of companies whose year end is in January are using up their budgets so that they can justify receiving the same amount next year.
