A late response...I didn't catch Jim's original question.

I've got Notes R5, but imagine that the structure is similar. Are these
attached documents? Embedded documents? Or are you saying "documents"
meaning database entries created by using a form, as Notes unfortunately
refers to them?

Have you tried searching www.notes.net? There's a huge documentation
library and lots of articles. You might find something to help you there.
