Has anyone ever called themselves a "content provider" and has it worked for them?
I was once strongly advised to put "content provider" on my resume because it was the computerese buzzword for writer and "will get you a much higher salary and way more interest." In reality, I got zero callbacks and one temp agency asking me what the heck it was that I actually did for a living.
My advice - forget about providing content and just be a writer.

The terms 'content provider', 'content developer', and 'content manager' show up primarily for on-line writing jobs advertised by high-tech ad agencies, web design companies, and on-line newspapers and magazines. I include the terms as keywords in my resume and cover letters for that type of position, and in the brochure and portfolio I tailor to prospective on-line pubs clients.

For other positions, in my experience, it has been worse than useless, since the typical busy HR screener or recruiter usually doesn't understand the terms and doesn't have time to ask for clarification.
