I just figured out how to get rid of the rules between columns (1.), so
I don't need help with that, but if anyone knows how to rule straddled
cells (2.), that would be great.

If anyone can help ....

1. I can't get rid of the thin lines between rows and columns in a
small group of cells. I could do a lot of things to work around this
problem, but I'd like to know why.

All other cells in the table are unruled. I changed a few cells so that
the outside borders and inside cells are ruled. Now I can't get rid of
them. I've set every ruling option in both the Table Designer and
Custom Ruling and Shading to None. Why won't they just go away???!!!

2. Does anyone know how to custom rule groups of straddled cells? For
example (where columns A and B are straddled across all rows):

|---------------------------
|A r1c2 r1c3 r1c4 |
| r2c2 r21c3 r2c4 |
| r3c2 r3c3 r3c4 |
|---------------------------
|B r4c2 r4c3 r4c4 |
| r5c2 r51c3 r5c4 |
|---------------------------

I'd like to keep columns 2-4 unstraddled.

Kathleen
