IMHO,

option 3 is useless (and what if the user is visually impaired and cant see what follows, anyway?).

option 2 will probably be preferred by those who like to keep steps as specific user actions. And, in this example, I'd expect a dialog box named something like "Change Password". OTOH, what if the DB *isnt* named something obvious to the user?

therefore (why does that look funny?), i'd go with option 1. It states an action and reaction, and lets me know what to expect. Plus, if it's already written that way, the value-add of changing it is probably minimal, at best. Leave "well enough" alone.
