So you'd actually write "No data are available"?

Wow. That looks SO wrong. No sir, I don't like it.

To me this is a case where the way people commonly USE this term should
dictate how you use it in print. And people use it as a singular noun,
IME.

And I think we're not supposed to do grammar debates here, so let me just
say "FrameMaker ROCKS!" There. That should do it. NOW it's about tech
writing.
