1. Do you currently use single sourcing, are you thinking about it, or will
it happen over your dead body?

Using it currently.

2. If you use it, how successful is it? Do the online results represent
good-quality online help? Do the printed documents represent good-quality
printed manuals?

Very successful in all accounts.

3. If you use it, how much overhead is there? (I.e., does it take just as
long, longer, or less time than it would to do both separately?) How do you

Don't know, I joined the company long after it was in place.

4. Is it worth doing?

I would make a few changes. I would change from proprietary & $ third party
to HTML for on-line docs.

5. Briefly describe the process and techniques you use to create single
source materials.

FrameMaker+SGML to SGML & PS gets magically converted to paper, pdf, online
docs, etc. I'm on the lower rungs, and not privy to the details.

6. Did you invent your own solution, inherit the solution, or learn from
someone else (Hackos, etc.)?

Using third party in lieu of HTML, but otherwise in-house designed mostly.

7. How big is your company? [Small = < 100 people Medium = <500 people
Large = < 1000 people XLarge = > 1001 people]

Wish I felt comfortable about revealing which
company I work for, but as a very small fish in
a very large pond of sharks, I have this web
account to provide a stealthy barrier.

Surfy! Great web search, free web email, and $9.95 unlimited Internet access
