Charlotte is not too bad from a job standpoint, I believe. The traffic there
is bad and it can be difficult to get around, but it is ok. You aren't too
far from the mountains and there are a lot of cool things to do and places
to go within an hour or so.

Charleston is beautiful and just a wonderful place. If you have been there
you know what I mean. Problem: The IT market there stinks. I had a colleague
at an IT placement and consulting firm who was in charge of the Charleston
area. She never had anything going on there. She said she never had any
clients there looking for IT people. I have seen some postings on Flipdog
for tech writers there, though, so it is not completely barren. But I saw a
lot more in Charlotte.

If job prospects in both places were equal I would choose Charleston.
