It's you. You're beginning from an unwarranted assumption about the site.
The site is there to make an artistic statement; it's not utilitarian. It's
an art school, so it's going to be a bit off-kilter, to stand out from the
crowd artistically. In the set of form and function categories, its bias
will be towards form.

Even so, I didn't have any trouble getting around in the site, and didn't
notice anything especially wrong. They use different conventions, but that
comes with the "artistic" territory; different isn't synonymous with bad,
unless you're speaking Jakob Nielsen's private language.

One thing everyone here seems to have missed: The little opening image
changes with every visit, along with the background of the first "real"
page. The colors in some sections were a bit overstated, but I accept
that's more an artefact of my own biases than anything else. I would prefer
background images that tiled more seamlessly, but that's about the biggest
problem I have with it.
