I'll second that.

I was laid off last fall with three months advance
notice. Within six weeks, I had two job offers
(amazingly, considering the state of the economy) and
both were willing to wait several weeks so that I
could stay at my then-current job until my official
layoff date and collect my hefty severance package.

I hear that it's taking a bit longer now to find
decent tech writing jobs here in the Philly area.

(FWIW, I was told that my luck in finding something so
quickly was likely due to my 16 years of experience.)
