Here in Sili Valley, many small companies don't post
openings. They have a generic "If you walk on water,
please feel free to send us your resume." They do
this to avoid getting caught up in the crawlers (like
FlipDog) and throttle down the number of resumes
they receive. Who could blame 'em? OTOH, it
means they get blindly sent resumes. You can't win
for losing.
