So true. The company I'm working for now had that kind of experience with
previous writers, and the interview process I underwent was far more intense
and covered more levels of management than any other interview I've ever
had.

To me it's a sign that the company is serious about making a good match
between the candidate and the position. I think that overall, companies are
becoming more interested in viable candidates than in just getting a warm
body into the position.
