<All these job hunting stories prompted me to ask a question about fee-based
recruiters. Are they worth it? Have any of you used them with success?>

In this country, I believe they're illegal. (With certain well-defined
exceptions, such as industries where professionals customarily hire agents
to represent them, employment agencies are not allowed to charge the
job-seeker a fee - they must collect from the employer.)
