A Rule of Tech Writing:
It is impossible to tell what a customer wants given only the name
of a document type.

Ask questions, ask for specifitcations, ask for a pointer to a sample
or definition. If you think you'd be revealing inexperience, couch your
questions as being based on the wide variation in terms and definitions
used to describe similar and/or varying documents. Some institutions
have solid definitions/specifications in place, but the link between
name and specification will shift when you go from one institution to
another one.
