In other words, my point is that they are two very different mental states. On the whole, editing is a left brain activity, original drafting right brain activity. They're not wholly distinct, of course; I'm only talking about the dominant tendencies. In any case, great debugging will not save poor programming.I didn't mention only debugging as part of the process. Peer review can be a very important part of the process, too. Or as my father says. "Well, any idiot can write the secondAnybody can do it, but can they do it well? An adept editor or reviewer has saved more than one piece of writing or code. Cheap shot.
