A straightforward solution is to crop the PDF pages. In Acrobat 4.0, it
goes like this: Document--> Crop Pages. Specify the appropriate margin
size to give you 5.5" × 8.5" (probably L/R=1.5", Top=0, Bottom=2.5"--Word
tends to align pages to the top and centred horizontally).

Don't forget to select a page range of All.
