Take a look at the archives for about a month prior to this post, which is
the Platonic Parthian shot:

Scenario, concerning Parthian shots, but maybe it should also cover the
Inappropriateness of *discussing* Parthian shots, too.

Tactic encountered by Alexander the Great, and later, the Romans, where
mounted archers (the Parthians, before the invention of the saddle and
stirrup) turned on the backs of their horses at full gallop and fired arrows
into a pursuing force.

See, Parthian shots don't work if the force does not pursue.
