Just a quick note on the defamation of international labor and the supposed
stance of the antiglobalization movement.

The "anti-globalization movement" as such is an invention of the corporate
media. Everyone knows globalization is inevitable, but on whose terms and to
whose benefit and at what real cost?

There is, however, a vast and patchworked movement that does not like to see
hard-fought gains on environmental and labor standards (more related to
safety than pay) dismantled through corporate end-runs based on so-called
open markets. ESPECIALLY when these end-runs collapse the very system of
democracy through which the gains were made. Voted for clean air and water
in your state? Sorry, that's anti-trade. Lawsuits like this are happening
all the time and guess who's winning?

About labor standards, it is all well and good to argue about competition
from overseas, but the question you might consider is:

Why can capital can go any where on the globe in search of cheaper labor,
but labor is limited in where it can search for a higher salary? How is it
that Nike can up and go to Indonesia but an Indonesian worker cannot up and
go to Oregon?

Think about that. It's a pretty problem.
