Disclaimer: I'm very experienced in this industry, and I have frequent
flashes of immaturity.

That said, I've worked at numerous companies where policies allowed
external documentation to list the authors (collectively, if more than
one writer produced it), and sometimes the development and QA teams. I've
also seen software such as Adobe FrameMaker that lists development, QA,
and Documentation contributors in the About box. As I recall, no
catastrophe resulted from any of this rampant immaturity or hideous lack
of experience.

For my own preference, I've always enjoyed seeing my own name in print
wherever possible, and often use my own name in examples in the docs. But
maybe that's just me.

Mike
