I agree that America may have a higher number of "bogus" or illegitimate
lawsuits than other countires, due to such factors as a lack of NHS, a
societal lack of a sense of personal responsibility, notion of a "victimized
culture", etc. However, many of these ridiculous lawsuits are perpetrated,
often times, by greedy and narrow-sighted lawyers. As I can't speak for
other countries, we have an abundance of lawyers in the US with very little
to do to keep themselves fed and employed. In search of these crackpot
suits, dishonest lawyers eventually become "ambulance chasers", consequently
tarnishing the legitimacy of well-grounded law suits. I say this with so
much certainity because I have 8 friends who are lawyers, of which only 3
have managed to maintain steady employment for the last four-five years.
Just a thought. Sorry for exhausting this topic further.
