Actually, Goober brings up a good point. I assumed it was "server-side" ... meaning that ou needed the search engine for in-house use. Maybe the support group, QA, mar-com, or even engineering, wanted to be able to search all the content out there on the product.

I made this assumption because you mentioned Word files. Does anyone ship Word files to customers as the documentation>?

If they won't give you the time to research it then
they aren't giving you the time to consider it.

First, is this server-side or client-side?

Second, what is "etc."? Just like you can't come up
with a solution with little time, we can't even think
about helping you when you provide us with little

Third, have you spoken to management about this, and
have they formally made this request? Did they provide
you with the functional spec, and does it clearly
communicate what they want?

This is not an implementation issue. This is a project
management issue. You need answers and definitive
information before you can even consider putting a
deadline on this project.
