Consider ignoring the fact that you heard about the Quark plan, and send Mr. Marketing (maybe cc'ing the actual client?) a memo detailing some production/delivery options including pros and cons. Something that's less of a "why not to use Quark" and more of a "here are the various options depending on your plans for the document".

You could easily pass off a recommendation like this as a standard service you provide. For a tiny company like you described, I'd be doing this anyway because I'd assume that the company hadn't given it any thought whatsoever anyway, and I'd be doing it at the beginning of the job because it would affect how I handle the job.

It's almost a guarantee that Mr. M and Ms. L are planning on Quark because one or the other of them have used it in the past.
