I respectfully beg to differ. My child took an avid interest in German grammar after we read Mark Twain's essay on the topic. http://www.crossmyt.com/hc/linghebr/awfgrmlg.html

It meant something to her to understand that other people (even adults - Gasp!) were struggling.

We only have to wait a couple of years before we see the influence that this shorthand will have on the English language. I believe it will dramatically alter the grammar. It will be the greatest grammatical road hazard WE face, not the kids.
