As the owner and moderator for several Yahoo!Groups, it's been painfully
obvious for a while that Yahoo doesn't have technical writers ... or
technical support, either. The average user may not have issues with
Yahoo or Yahoo!Groups. But as soon as the question goes beyond "how do I
send email" or "how do I subscribe to a group", the information is just not
available.
Tie-in to technical writing: the owners/moderators have banned together to
form their own support group. One of the owner/moderator groups I belong
to has even written their own procedures, for those second-level questions.
I guess when the proper documentation/support isn't available, that's when
the grassroots efforts have to start. If they have the time to do so.
Otherwise, they go elsewhere.
