Just build the presentation in the narrative order, but include a popup menu on each slide that lists all the slides in the presentation. If you want to skip around, choose from the popup. Or you can put that into tiers - one popup for main topics, and within each main topic a popup for the related slides. I have no idea whether PowerPoint does this, due to my own lack of experience. (I come from the school that claims an inverse proportion between a company's success and the percentage of PowerPoint licenses.) But I know you can do it with FrameMaker (grin).
