Many thanks to all respondents. Here is an interim summary we can use to conitnue the discussion.

Definition: A server-only Extranet application where authorized users can add/view/modify transactions, based on their permission level (so far 2 user categories)

Help types: traditional help in separate window, amazon-type help, integral in browser's right pane. Which one seems more appropriate for the above definition?

HAT vs. plain HTML coding: depends on the complexity of the app, whether index or search are required. Anyone for different criteria?
