I see there's already been a bunch of answers to this, but FWIW, I've
heard that you should use the soft "G" because it's followed by an "I."

A quick informal survey for those TWs who are also graphics gurus:

When referring to .GIF files, do you pronounce it with a soft G (jiff)
or
with a hard G (giff, similar to the sound of gift)?

I'm finding myself prone to the soft G, perhaps due to my predilection
