I read this as meaning that if someone brings a sample and says it was >created a few months ago, they ought to be able to talk about the >product for which the sample was created.

But I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast yesterday!

I wrote about a product last year, and kept a few minor non-proprietery documents relating to it (besides the fact that the company decided to dump the product in the end). But, if someone were to suddenly show me the SDK that I wrote for it, I might have trouble remembering what it all meant.
