Folks,

I'm looking for a recommendation.

Our software evolves too fast for us to keep updating Flash demos. What we want to do is have someone present a scripted demonstration of our browser-based software and record both voice and browser content in a format that we can do some basic editing (sound equalization, snipping out throat clearing, etc., maybe splice a couple of recording sessions together), and then convert it all to streaming media so we can serve the demo from our Web site.

We have delivered live demos using a Web meeting service (currently PlaceWare) and recorded the sessions. However we cannot edit the recordings. (That's not entirely true. We can edit the audio recording, but we cannot edit the combined audio/video recording.) There are also problems with capturing the audio portion using that method, as it is limited by telephone bandwidth and sounds like it.

What we want to do is get (buy? rent?) a little audio equipment so we can record the voice decently and also use some kind of screen cam software (brand agnostic) to capture the video, then combine the audio and video in some kind of editor, as I said.

If you have any experience with a similar process--or a recommendation for a different approach--and can recommend screen cam software and a compatible editor with the capabilities we need, please let me know. This all has to run in a Windows environment, by the way. And I got a copy of RealNetworks Helix Producer yesterday, so the step of converting to RealMedia format at the end is taken care of.

Thanks,

Dick
