Folks,

This is a fascinating discussion, but it has pretty obviously developed into two schools of thought that will never agree.

Here's my 0.02. For whatever it's worth.

About five years ago, a previous techwriter at the company I was contracting at submitted a manual to the STC and won an award for it. I submitted excerpts from said manual to the old CoreComm Bad Technical Writing Contest and won an Honorable Mention. Need I say more?
