Google is a beautiful thing - there's lots of links about this topic. Look
for "mac animated gif".

I learned how by teaching myself, using Paint Shop Pro, which comes
bundled with an animation tool called Animation Shop. But that's PC-only
software, so you'll need to search for Mac-oriented tools like the one
above. It's fun stuff - enjoy!
