Umm, the question was "How do I get a copy of one document's TOC into a different document?"

In Word, "unlinking" a field means replacing the field code with the results of its most recent evaluation.

In this case, it means replacing the dynamic { TOC } field with the text:

Heading 1....................1
Heading 2..................1
Heading 1....................5
Heading 2..................6

It's no longer a field, but plain text, the same as if you'd typed it all by hand. That prevents the text from being updated, which wouldn't be appropriate when the TOC is no longer in the document it's referring to.

Inserting a *dynamic* TOC for one document into another document is a whole different subject, revolving around { RD } fields (or the dreaded Master Document feature).
