Very insightful. Again, a question of assumptions. I think Rob's point about
site visits is exactly right. Too bad it's so difficult to do.

Your SMEs are dealing with existing customers, and probably long-time
customers who have built up good relations with the company over years. So
they're really familiar with the product.
These are not the people who will come in for the introductory courses that
the trainers are seeing...
I don't find it a contradiction, just a mistaken assumption about the
homogeneity of an audience.
