My own answer would be some version of #3. I'd stress that I knew what features to expect, and probably draw an analogy with switching word processors that anyone would understand.

I'd have trouble with simply saying "Yes." It might not be lying, but it would be deliberately misleading - lying by omission, rather than commission, so to speak. I'm sure that I could make good on the answer, but I would prefer not to start a business relation by misleading my business partner. My concern is that part of me would be mildly contemptuous of them because I'd successfully mislead them, and I'd worry that that would subtly poison our relation.

But that's my comfort level. I wouldn't presume to judge anyone who thought different. There might, for example, be a case in which lying was less important than feeding your dependents that would justify the the first answer.

(BTW,this would make an interesting Techwr-l question. Deb, are you there?)
