predicament she was in. If it was the wrong way to do it, I apologize to
anyone who was offended.


I thought it added an essential element of background.

The NOC group *assumed* that the error was hers, in part, because she was a young woman. A young man--from my observation of similar situations--might have been teased a bit, but one of the grizzled veterans would have pitched in fairly quickly and helped him figure out the problem.

Personally, one of the problems I'm having in my current job hunt is that I've graduated from 'young and cute female' (and therefore automatically less than competent) to 'gray and plump female' (and therefore incapable of understanding anything at all about computers and other newfangled technology).
