The only time I've ever had to take a typing test (outside of typing class in high school, at least) was for a temp job. I second the recommendation for Mavis; good stuff to practice with. But really, if you're not doing data entry, transcription, or something equally mindless, I doubt it'll come up.

I think I topped out around 70wpm, and I've since gotten sloppier and hence slower, since I keep going back to correct mistakes. Darn this technology. :-)
