Why not just list the specific file types you can manage? IME end users often don't even recognize the difference between the actual files and the applications they use to edit them.

So "you can manage plain text, Microsoft© Word & Excell documents, pictures, clip art, and PDF files, etc." will probably better suit your needs. Then for the more technical end users provide a table of supported file formats in an appendix or the help system.
