Hi and Happy Friday to All,

Since Technical Writers are one of the first to be let
go when a company downsizes, the more knowledge a
Technical Writer possesses - the more valuable he/she
is to a company.

It would be financially beneficial for a company to
keep a Technical Writer with a working knowledge of
Programming, QA and Marketing/Sales versus a Technical
Writer, QA Analyst or Marketing/Sales Specialist with
just one skill.

Bottom line: A Technical Writer does not have to be a
Programmer to write about it, but he/she must know
programming (as well as QA, Marketing, etc.) in order
to stay employed (in a Software/Hardware company).

Just my 2.157 cents,
