Based on this criteria:

- 85% or more of all technologies are inferior.
- 100% of all open-source technologies are inferior.
- Most of the major technological and scientific breakthroughs of the last 2000
years are inferior.

How did humanity survive this long?

Documentation is rarely seen as a vital component until a competent and gifted
technical writer (somebody who is simultaneously very technical AND a good
writer) demonstrates how to make documentation a vital component.

In other words, one of the reasons organizations don't consider documentation
vital, is because few writers are able to demonstrate the value of good
documentation.
