This is a major "thorn" for me. Partly from ego, partly from frustration. Here, they don't seem to have a clue or should I say, "respect" for a person's writing background. They have hired people as Tech Writers, Documentation Specialists, and Clerks. We are all doing the same thing and some are getting paid more than others. So, it doesn't seem to matter if one person has a degree in Writing (like me) and another has high school with experience as an Office Professional. We are doing the same thing.

I was compared to a Secretary last week. That didn't help my disposition one bit.

Overall, I don't think there is a real distinction between the two and I don't think anyone can really find a true definition for either title (Tech Writer or Documentation Specialist)
