Learning to use FrameMaker or
PhotoShop are relatively easily obtained skills. There is a class offered
everyday for these tools.

In contrast, learning how mail sorters work (your example) or general critical
analysis skills are considerably more difficult to obtain.

This simply wrong. Photoshop, in particular, is a highly complex tool, properly learning which takes a long time of intensive use. If you think you "know Photoshop" because you can crop and retouch a screenshot, you just have no idea what the tool can do.

The situation with FrameMaker is somewhat ess extreme. But again, a class may teach you how to write a manual in FrameMaker, but really being able to set up templates and workflows is a mch more demanding skill that takes a lot longer to learn.

Jan Henning
