Re: the posting limits:

* Hard core nitpickers and troublemakers will just set up multiple
accounts and circumvent the posting limits that way (it's already been
done...)

Re: other well intentioned initiatives/suggestions in this thread:

* Eric's posting rules already address most, if not all, of these issues.
Conversely, if you read a problem post, it invariably violates one of the
posting rules.
* I don't see how any amount of policing, ostracism, committees, etc. can
change the fact that some deliberately ignore the rules.
* I don't think it's reasonable to ask Eric and Deb to do more than they
already do to enforce the rules (i.e., if they reprimanded or booted
everyone who violate the rules they'd have no time for anything else.
I've been a board moderator, and speak from experience.)

Last thought:

* When I was studying COBOL Programming 20 years ago, I had a professor
who lambasted us if we misread a requirement or spec. Like the Drill
Instructor in old war movies, "I hated his guts, but the day came where I
thanked it for it."
(Thank you Toby Lorenzen wherever you are.)

My point? Given the way some on this list misread the content and
intentions of others, I wish they had taken Toby Lorenzen's class. I also
hope they interpret their specifications, requirements, test plans, and
source materials with more accuracy then they interpret these posts.
