Nancy,

I had rememberd hearing that the dyslexic and pre-lingual
deaf had problems processing passive voice, but didn't
have an attribution. A quick google on "passive voice"
+reading +deaf +dyslexic yielded this reference:
http://216.239.37.104/search?q=cache:8SSoZ2zeZt0J:www.dfes.gov.uk/curriculum_literacy/tree/speaklisten/speaktocommunicate/L2/3/allaccess/+%22passive+voice%22+%2Breading+%2Bdyslexic+%2Bdeaf&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

which confirms my vague recollection. Other search results
look equally interesting. Have a good time investigating,
and please report back with your findings!

HTH!
