You're making that assumption. You may be right, but I didn't see enough information in any of the earlier posts to know that for sure.


You're a contractor; you charge by the hour. It is highly
unlikely that the client will pay you to set up a more
efficient workflow,

Rubbish. Clients pay me to do just that all the time. As a contractor or a consultant, I have an obligation, at the very least, to inform my client about obvious workflow problems and adjustments that can be made to the workflowt o improve productivity, maintainability, and overall quality. Clients are of course under no obligation to accept my recommendations, but I am obligated to offer them.


but you will, of course, get paid for
combing thru the help to discover the changes that need to
be made to the FrameMaker document.

Deal with it and count your money when you're done! ;-)


Without even informing the client about the weaknesses in the workflow? If you ask me, that's not the way to provide clients with the best value for their money.
