Well, if I'm ever going to out myself to the rest of this list (I just
sent Andrew an off list reply and Eric and everybody on Techcomm
already knew), this is probably the time.

My strangest interview experience was the one where the manager was
checking my references and couldn't get my previous boss to talk to
him on the phone (he had had to lay off so many people that he
couldn't remember who had signed the permission slip for references
and who hadn't) so I had to fax him a copy of one of my old AMD
performance reviews.

Well, I had a different first name back then (last year) so I told the
manager that I had legally changed my name since the review so I would
include a copy of that court order. I also warned him that it might
be a little shocking, but didn't explain to him then that my old name
was a male one (one I used to post here under).

The crazy part of the whole story is that I had a total of four
in-person interviews this year, and that was the job I was finally
offered, even after having to out myself to the boss (who is the only
one there who knows). I've been there three weeks as of tomorrow.

CDs like Chris make things a lot harder for transsexuals (no self
respecting TS would have shown up with a moustache). I have friends
that are CDs, but CDing is a hobby and has no business in the
workplace. Too many people don't know the difference and expect
someone looking like him to show up instead of someone who just wants
to live her or his life as normally as possible.
