Actually, there are headsets with microphones *designed* for just this scenario. It is not necessary for the voice to be pitched so loud as to be a problem for others in order for the appropriate technology to work well.

In fact, I am experimenting with Dragon for text input myself. Not because I have RSI, but because I do *not* want to get it!
