re: credibility

I'm going away now (I promised my wife we'd go hear
Omar Faruk Teklibek) but before I do, I'd like to
observe for the sake of clarity that this discussion
seems to be straining in six different directions:
what is the reality, how do we react inwardly to it,
what do we do about it, and-- cutting across those 
three-- are we making general observations or talking
about ourselves as individuals?  

An observation intended to advance the dialogue in
one of those directions seems sometimes to be met
with a response snatching the dialogue, like an
intercepted football, off to another direction
entirely.  I hope no misunderstandings result.
