cor -at- techwritercor -dot- com wonders: <<Anyone know of a good ASP book for a
beginner?>>

Start with the documentation for the software you'll be using to create the
content. No, I'm not being snarky and saying RTFM--the best book for your
purposes will be one focused on the software you'll use, and thus, may just
end up being the product docs. If these docs aren't sufficient, you can then
look for books such as "ASP for Dreamweaver for Dummies" (if you're using
Dreamweaver)--the key being to find one that focuses on your software.

If you need something more general-purpose, try out the O'Reilly series of
books (www.oreilly.com). They've got a ton of stuff available, and their
books are almost always wonderful in my experience.

<<Also, I'm working on an e-commerce site for a client. I've never made an
e-commerce site, except a mock-up one for a class using a template. Any
suggestions on how I can set up a secure server, learn e-commerce setup
basics, and/or any good books on that subject?>>

Contract this out to a reliable service provider--PC Magazine has reviewed
Web hosting and e-commerce solutions several times in the past 1-2 years, so
hit their Web site (www.pcmag.com) to start your search. I ***strongly***
recommend that if you've never done this before, you shouldn't try. You
simply don't have the expertise to do it yourself. Sure, you can design the
information architecture and content, but building the plumbing and ensuring
that the plumbing is both efficient and remains secure is the next best
thing to rocket science, and is emphatically not a job for neophytes.
